Description
What happens when a potter, fermenter, and farmer come together? Answer: this epic two-part workshop happens, and we couldn't be more excited.
Join us this July for our much-anticipated Fermentation workshop in collaboration with Suria Foods & Jumping Red Ant Farm.
Designed for complete beginners, this two-part workshop will teach you not only how to create a beautiful, and most importantly, functional ceramic fermentation crock, but also how to use it.
Session 1: Fermentation Crock
During the first session, taught and hosted by Stone Studio, you will learn how to create a fermentation crock using several different hand-building techniques. We will then glaze and fire your crock in our kiln, and have it ready and waiting for you for the second session.
When: Choose from Sunday, July 11th from 9-12pm or Sunday, July 18th from 9-12pm
Session 2: Basics of Fermentation
During the second session, taught by Suria Foods and hosted by Jumping Red Ant Farm, we will spend the day on the farm learning the basic principles of fermenting, including different forms of fermentation, health benefits, ingredients you need to start fermenting at home, salt ratios and so much more.
You'll have the opportunity to create a unique recipe using your fermentation crock and fresh, seasonal ingredients provided by Jumping Red Ant Farm, as well as a byproduct from the offcuts. You will leave the session with two different products to mature at home.
Drinks, as well as a light lunch and beautiful dégustation of Suria Foods seasonal ferments, will be provided throughout the day.
When: Saturday, July 31st from 9-2pm
Please note, spaces are limited.
