There's no better way to learn the fundamentals than to dive headfirst into our three-week intensive hand building course.
Over the course of the three weeks, you'll learn not only the fundamentals of hand building, including pinching, coiling, soft and hard slabbing, but we'll also explore sculpture, as well as various surface decoration techniques including imprinting, sgraffito, and decorating with underglaze.
The cost of the course includes the use of equipment during session times, clay, glazes, and firing.
Not only will you walk away with a wealth of new knowledge, but you will have the opportunity to create a variety of different pieces, including cups, vases, bowls, plates, platters, and so much more.
Join us in the studio twice a week for three weeks as we guide you through:
◦ the ceramic process
◦ the fundamentals of hand-building, including pinching, coiling, soft and hard slab construction, sculpture and joinery
◦ surface decoration, including imprinting, sgraffito, and underglaze
◦ how to use slump and hump molds
◦ how to glaze and prepare your pieces for firing
After the course, you will have two options:
1 - Sign up for our Glazing 101 class here, where you will learn how to glaze your pieces in whichever color of your choosing.
2 - Opt to have our skilled staff glaze your pieces for you in our house-white glaze(included in the cost of the course).
You won't need to bring anything with you, but please wear comfortable clothes & shoes, have short nails, and remove all valuable jewelry.
