Hand Building Tutorials | Basic Techniques

Looking for some technical knowledge or inspiration for your next pottery project? Here are a few videos to help get you started. Below we explore three basic skills of hand building while making a small pot, vase and a mug with our new at-home clay kit for adults.

 

Pinch Pot

One of the hand-building basic we explore pinching, one of three primary techniques used in the hand-building process. Give this a god and make yourself a little pot to house your keys or jewellery.

 

Coiling

A fundamental skill of hand-building, once you can coil you can create a multitude of shapes. Start with a vase or a pot and then get a little imaginative.

Slabbing

Learn how to properly slab your clay, in this video we will make a mug together. Let this ignite your creativity and explore what you can make with slabbing.
